As I previously covered in my “Dare to Dream” blog entry I outlined a scoring system for the Winter ‘07 release. Now that Dreamforce has passed, and hopefully those at Salesforce.com are well into the post-Dreamforce recovery period we can take a look ahead into the new release. Scott Hemmeter over at Arrowpointe wrote a nice summary of the announced features over on his blog.
I’ve taken most of the publically available information and added it to my scoring spreadsheet, available as a PDF: Winter ‘07 Preliminary Release Scoring
Please note that I’ve generally erred toward a higher score, with a few exceptions, and I have not gone through my list of bugs yet. It would be premature to speculate as to what they may, or may not, have fixed until it is finally released. As the release approaches I will post my excel spreadsheet so that everyone can score the release for themselves.

Teach me to let Wordpress handle the upload and not check it when I’m done.
Fixed now.

Why not try to use the google spread sheet (or iRows)….

I actually do a number of spreadsheets in Google, but I got turned off after working a few of my more complicated ones just wouldn’t work because the calculations were too complicated. So after spending about 90 minutes getting all the basics in (import didn’t work either - it would just hang) to find out it’s too complicated kinda turned me off.
I may try importing it into Google when the release approaches or the changelog gets posted by SFDC and I update it again.
Edit: I realized the other reason I didn’t do that. I used Excel’s data validation to pick the contents of several of the fields from a list of values. I then use those fixed values to compute the points. If I didn’t I’d need more columns or be subject to typos.

Apex = 0 points? Ouch! This one tops my list.

Mike,
As I said in the PDF itself, I scored it 0 because it’s not part of the Winter ‘07 release, it’ll be entering beta in Q1 ‘07 (Edit: I mistyped 08 earlier).
I’ll be happy to amend my scoring if it gets “GAed” (made generally available) at release.
I had actually planned on not listing it at all, but given that I really didn’t find anything else ‘innovating’ I left it in, with explanation, instead of a blank. Also not it’s not listed later in the features summary either.
If I had just not mentioned it at all, I’m sure I’d get comments asking why it wasn’t included. Six of one, half-dozen of the other I guess….

I think you meant to say beta in Q1 ‘07…
