If users whine to their admins, and SFDC never hears it… did it really happen?
Hot on the heels of the AppExchange intrusive ad is a brand new “Unlimited Edition” advert… Same thing, same obnxious locaiton, new code to disable it:
For instructions on how to use this code, please see my original post on the topic.
<script type="text/javascript">
setCookie('sawBanner', 'unlimitedEdition');

If you log a ticket with salesforce.com support they will opt you out of the advertising. it turns of the button on the home page “Get Ready for Winter 07″ as well. The secret name is “Hide New Features Image.”

My site admin told me that he had disabled this, but it’s come back.
Other elements that I’m currently blocking, to preserve screen real estate:

(Yeah, my login page looks a little funny, but since all I want to do on the login page is, well, log in, I don’t care.)

Note that the sawBanner has been updated (at least in our instance). This old code may not work. I’m having success with a small adjustment to one line of the above code:

Salesforce published an appexchange app to remove the ads:
Saw Banners Be Gone!

It’s kind of like the IVR prompts “Press 1 for English, Para Espanol…” Why should we have to press 1?

That link to the appexchange is now dead - they must have removed it altogether. I can’t get a thing searching on anything to with Saw and Banners… sadly.
